[OLD] ACES Exchange

NOTE – The ACES Exchange service will be retired on Dec. 31, 2011. If you have not been contacted about migrating your email to the new CITES Exchange service, please contact the CSS team.

The ACES Exchange service was commissioned by the Dean of the College in order to provide a common platform for e-mail, calendaring and sharing of other group information, and is maintained by the College’s own, Information Technology and Communication Services.

Use of the ACES Exchange service is open to all College of ACES faculty and staff.  Services that are available include:

  • Individual mailboxes with up to 5GB storage limit with ubiquitous e-mail, calendar, and contact access
  • Group and special event mailboxes used for shared e-mail, calendaring or contact management
  • Room and Equipment mailboxes useful for scheduling and sharing availability information
  • Free integration with Window Mobile smartphones and PDAs
  • BlackBerry Enterprise Services* (This service requires the purchase of a client license, and small yearly cost recovery for maintenance)

Request Process
If you would like a mailbox on the ACES Exchange server either for yourself, your group, or for a special event you can write to techsupport <at> itcs.uiuc.edu (which will open a ticket in our tracking system) . Here are the pieces of information that we want for each person:

  • netID
  • authentication active directory (ACES AD, UIUC AD, etc.)
  • return address preference (default will be @illinois.edu, let us know if they want it to be @uiuc.edu)
  • forwarding timeframe (we will forward the account by default and remove it when you are ready unless you prefer it not be forwarded. Without the forward, any e-mail sent to the person from within Exchange will end up in their mailbox, which is not desirable until they are actively checking the account).
