This post lists the general settings for configuring an smtp client to use the ACES Exchange smtp server.  It is not intended to be a step by step guide for any individual mail client, but it should be useful for connecting a variety of clients to the ACES Exchange smtp server.

Server Name: smtp.aces.uiuc.edu

Use default ports (25, 465, 587)

Use SSL

Authentication NTLM

User Name: netid

Password: ACES Exchange password (Same password used to access Outlook Web Access)
