Creating and Sharing a Box Folder with Customized Link
You can use your free, 50GB UofI Box.com account for many different projects and tasks. This article explains how to create a folder for secure sharing with a custom link.
1. Log in to your UofI Box account.
2. Click the “New” drop-down and choose “New Folder.”
3. Name the folder.
4. Change the Collaboration setting to “Keep private for now.”
5. Click “Okay” to create the folder.
6. Locate the new folder in your list and click the name to open it. (It will be a yellow, private folder, in alphabetical order.)
7. On the right, under “Sharing,” click the access drop-down. By default, this will say “Collaborators Only Access.”
8. Choose the level of access for the folder. If you’re not sure what level you need, read the description below each option.
9. This is also where we set the custom link. Below the access type description, click “Customize Link” and give the link a descriptive, short name and click “Save.”
9a. The link must not include spaces or special characters. Hyphens ARE allowed.

9b. If you need to edit a customized link, click the small, grey pencil icon to the right of the link field.
10. From this point, you can upload documents to the folder, invite collaborators with specific security access levels, password-protect individual files in the folder, etc. See the ATS Quick Start Guide for more info about these Box features.
