Transitioning from Lync to Skype for Business

ACES faculty and staff,

Beginning today, Microsoft is transitioning Lync 2013 to Microsoft Skype for Business. After standard Microsoft updates are applied to your Windows computer, you might see “Skype” or “Skype for Business” in applications like Outlook where it previously said “Lync”. Most of these changes are cosmetic at this time, but it means great news down the road when we will be able to make video calls to Skype users around the world.

For full information from CITES on this change, please see http://www.cites.illinois.edu/mshelp/2013/interfacechanges. Please note that you do not need to do anything at this time and this does not impact computers running Lync for Mac or Lync 2010.

Happy Tuesday,
David
