How to move the Windows taskbar to different monitor in a dual monitor setup

When using more than one monitor with Windows you may wish to have the Windows task bar and start menu appear on a monitor other than the primary display.

To do move the Windows Taskbar to a different monitor:

  1. Right Click on an open area of the Taskbar
  2. Make sure that there is not a Checkmark next to the “Lock Taskbar” option.  If there is a checkmark next to “Lock the Taskbar” click it and the checkmark will toggle off.
  3. Left click on an open area of the Taskbar.  While continuing to hold down left click drag the Taskbar to the monitor that where you wish it to be displayed.
  4. Once it is positioned where you want it.  Right click and toggle “Lock Taskbar” back on so the the checkmark once again appears next to “Lock Taskbar”
